From the 2 – 10 May 2020, ExCeL will play host to Grand Designs Live; bringing the very best of home design, build and innovation to London.
With over 500 companies covering four key areas of a large scale project (Build, Kitchens & Bathrooms, Interiors and Gardens), there’s something to source ideas, products and suppliers from, for every home, however big or small.
Design guru and presenter of the iconic Grand Designs TV show, Kevin McCloud, will be hosting the event and providing a number of key talks on the live theatre stage. Other highlights from the theatre will include the likes of “Meet the Grand Designers”, welcoming back those who built their homes on the show, to give their top tips and provide a deeper insight into their projects. There will also be a range of industry experts covering topics such as self-build simplified, how to get the best out of your builder and the key to building relationships between building professionals and clients.
In association with The National Custom and Self Build Association (NaCSBA), Grand Designs Live will play host to National Custom & Self Build Week, which will include specialised live talks across the exhibition, plus tailored advice in a drop-in clinic.
Kevin’s Green Heroes, celebrating the most ground-breaking and eco-friendly products on the market, will return for its 10th year. For London 2020, Kevin will select five new heroes to showcase their products, plus invite a selection to return from over the years, to see where they are now.
Another popular feature at the event is the Ask an Expert area, which as the name suggests, is a place to ask any burning questions, discuss project plans, or get advice. With 12 categories to choose from and over 1,800 appointments available, visitors can book slots on the event website in advance or on a first-come-first-serve basis on the day. Categories include architecture, finance, design, project management and self-build.
There are also a number of brand new features making their debut at this year’s event. The Innovation Trail will give visitors a way to discover the most ground-breaking innovative products and services located at the event. Plus for those looking for interior inspiration, the room sets will do just the trick. Six designers will create inspirational designs for “The Great British Box Room”, a small, sometimes abandoned room with the home. Take home supplier names, ideas and even cast a vote for your favourite.
